Why the ZHAW double degree is right for you
Help shape the future of healthcare
Our ZHAW double-degree programme combines two future-oriented professional fields in healthcare: Community Health Nursing(CHN) and Advanced Practice Nursing (APN) or Advanced Practice Midwife (APM).
Both are specialised professions with advanced knowledge and skills. While CHNs mainly work in health promotion and prevention in communities, APNs specialise in various fields, such as family health, geriatrics, paediatrics, psychiatry or anaesthesia. The double degree thus offers the opportunity to combine knowledge and skills from community nursing with advanced clinical competencies, resulting in holistic and patient-centred care.
For students, participation in the double degree programme is a great added value: you receive a second specialised degree in nursing or midwifery, gain international experience and thus gain career prospects. Taking on management positions enables you to exert greater influence on health policy decisions and nursing programmes - and thus on the future of the health and nursing sector.
Job prospects: These are your career prospects
As an Advanced Practice Nurse, you will have access to more diverse and often better-paid career options in various healthcare fields, including clinical leadership, specialised nursing and academic positions.
Experts with a Master's degree take on leadership roles and work in specialised areas of patient care or preventative healthcare. This is why advanced practice nurses are increasingly in demand in nursing and midwifery.
The double degree also opens up new postgraduate career paths for graduates, such as doctoral studies.
