Witten/Herdecke University launches innovative Bachelor's degree programme in "Management & Psychology"

How do companies function as organisations? How do consumers behave? And how do findings from psychology help us to better understand the behaviour of people in companies and when making purchases? The new Bachelor's degree programme in Management & Psychology (B. Sc.) at Witten/Herdecke University (UW/H) addresses these and other questions.

Two worlds come together in this interdisciplinary degree programme: students not only acquire business management expertise, but also deal with the benefits of psychological methods and findings. Topics on the course include leadership culture, team building as well as work, organisational and motivational psychology.

The Bachelor's programme is therefore primarily aimed at people who are not (only) interested in studying business administration alone, but want to understand how psychological and business methods and findings can be used in combination. The added value of this combination of subjects helps future managers, particularly in the business areas of company organisation, human resources or marketing.

In six semesters, students are equipped with a wide range of skills so that they are ready for a career in modern business after graduation: Graduates can, for example, work in human resources, management consultancy, market research or the public sector.

Part of the unique Bachelor of Choice degree programme model

The Management & Psychology degree programme is part of the Bachelor of Choice study model, which is unique in Germany. This flexible model enables students to enrol on one of six degree programmes offered by the Faculty of Business and Society. After a joint orientation year, in which all first-year students are taught the same relevant basics, they can make a final decision on a degree programme according to their individual preferences - without losing credit points or time.

In addition to "Management & Psychology", students can choose from "Management", "PPÖ - Philosophy, Politics and Economics", "Economics, Politics and Law", "Global Sustainability: Climate, Justice, Transformation" and "Social Data Science".

Studying in Witten: There's more than university here!

Witten/Herdecke University offers an inspiring environment with small study groups and intensive dialogue with lecturers. Right from the start, students are part of a first-class network and benefit, for example, from offers from alumni and alumnae, such as mentoring programmes, workshops and lectures. Thanks to collaborations with many well-known practice partners, students are immersed in the world of work during their studies and can deepen their knowledge at companies such as Dr Oetker, Vodafone or Check24.

They complete ten per cent of their studies in the Studium fundamentale. This gives them the opportunity to look beyond their degree programme; they have the chance to reflect on themselves, acquire new skills and develop their own personality alongside their normal learning and university life.

Everyone at UW/H has the opportunity to receive an excellent education, regardless of their social and financial background. The Reverse Generation Contract (UGV) of the Wittener StudierendenGesellschaft, for example, offers the opportunity to study first and repay the contributions after graduation depending on your income.
