Urban Zero
Project overview
The Urban Zero project marks the world's first attempt to make an entire urban neighbourhood - Duisburg-Ruhrort - environmentally neutral in just a few years, i.e. to transform it into a state that has no negative impact on the biosphere. The aim is to act in balance with the environment and thus not only improve the environmental balance of the municipality, but also the local quality of life - for example through sustainable leisure activities and energy solutions. The UW/H is providing scientific support for the project: the team is developing conditions for success for sustainable and equitable transformation projects and preparing them in such a way that they can be transferred to the current and future project.
