Transfer of a nursing curriculum and development of training structures in Suzhou (TRAPAS)
Project overview
Nursing care for the elderly in China presents the country with a major challenge. The Witten/Herdecke University (Department of Nursing Science) was commissioned to address this issue. The aim of the project was to qualify people in China to provide nursing care for this population group.
Based on the facts gathered on site, the planning had to be adapted to the needs of the Chinese population. The training of professional carers at various locations in China was particularly helpful. The focus was on caring for the elderly, including people with dementia. Furthermore, the observation of Chinese managers in German care facilities for the elderly and outpatient care services proved to be very inspiring. A final evaluation showed that the interns had taken up many ideas and initiated change processes in their facilities.
