Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis on Systemic Therapy (SystRev-ST)

Project overview

How does systemic therapy work, taking into account different disorders, settings and outcome variables? Our project aims to provide an overview of the randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of systemic therapy to date, particularly with regard to aspects of adherence, manualisation, theoretical orientation, system-oriented outcome measurement and study design. A particular focus is on the development of an optimal search strategy for studies on systemic therapy.

We are guided by the following questions:

  • What can be learnt from previous effectiveness studies on systemic therapy for the future of research and practice?
  • Which specific research methods tailored to the particularities of systemic therapy are compatible with the standards of modern evidence-based psychotherapy?
  • How does systemic therapy work on both a symptom- and system-orientated level?
