Self-organised shared flats for technology-dependent people in North Rhine-Westphalia

Project overview

The Ministry commissioned the School of Nursing Science to investigate the following question:

"To compile an overview of the number of existing self-organised shared flats with outpatient nursing care and describe the care situation for people with respiratory support measures in North Rhine-Westphalia."

Conclusion: A total of 73 shared flats for technology-dependent people were found in North Rhine-Westphalia. Data on the composition of the residents, their underlying illnesses and their nursing care was collected quantitatively by questionnaire. In addition, 18 interviews were conducted with residents, relatives and carers.

The data made it possible to make recommendations.
