“Despite Trump - What entrepreneurs need to know about the USA today”

The USA stands for economic innovation, but also for political extremes. The second Trump administration is having a lasting impact on the country's image - a source of opportunity for some entrepreneurs and a haven of uncertainty for others. How can we understand this polarised and dynamic environment?

Our guest is Dr Josef Braml, one of the most renowned experts on transatlantic economic relations in Germany. He reaches a wide audience with his contributions (e.g. Tagesschau, Deutschlandfunk, Karlsruher Mittelstandsforum) and books. His latest book "World to Come: The Return of Trump and the End of the Old Order" (with Mathew Burrows, 2025) examines how military failures, technological and climate challenges as well as economic slowdown and protectionist tendencies are fuelling the dwindling global influence of the US and leading to global instability and uncertainty. He emphasises the need to combat nationalism, slow economic growth and climate change. Braml calls for action to create a world worth living in after the end of Pax Americana.

The evening will be moderated by Hendrik Wilhelm, Professor of Strategic Organisation at the Reinhard Mohn Institute of Management at UW/H.

Participation in the event is free of charge.
