Psychology (M. Sc.) at UW/H receives prestigious DPG certification - as the first Master's programme in NRW
The German Psychological Society certifies that the Master's degree program in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy at Witten/Herdecke University is of high quality.
According to the online portal StudyCheck, there are 114 Master's degree programmes in psychology at 81 different universities in Germany - this diversity makes it difficult for prospective students to find their way around. The German Psychological Society (DGPs) has therefore introduced a quality seal: The certificate is intended to ensure the quality of psychology degree programmes in the long term, achieve the greatest possible comparability of psychology degree programmes and increase transparency for students and prospective students.
After the Bachelor's degree programme in Psychology (B. Sc.) at Witten/Herdecke University (UW/H) was awarded the seal in 2018, the Master's degree programme in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy (M. Sc.) has now also received the award. To date, only four other universities in Germany have received the DGPs seal of approval for their Master's degree programmes - UW/H is the first university in NRW to receive this certification.
"The award is a special recognition of our work. It proves that we attach great importance to high standards of academic excellence and research orientation," says Prof Dr Thomas Ostermann, Head of the Department of Psychology and Psychotherapy at UW/H.
The seal is awarded for a period of five years and can then be applied for again. Recertification of the Bachelor's degree programme in Psychology is also currently underway in Witten.
