Photographic art from Witten for a good cause

On 16 December 2024, citizens can bid for a wide range of photographs from Witten and the surrounding area at a charity auction organised by Witten/Herdecke University (UW/H). Whether lively everyday scenes, impressions of urban nature or moments at historical sites in the region - the images offer unique perspectives on life in Witten and reflect the different points of view of the participating photographers.

Since 2021, the "Photographic Ethnography" course has regularly presented exhibitions of works taken by UW/H students and Witten citizens during the course. Now, 16 canvases in large format (120 x 80 cm) and over 20 photo prints (40 x 60 cm) from four semesters are to be sold in an auction format. The works also include six exhibition photographs on canvas (90 x 60 cm), which photographer and lecturer Philip Ian Pearce is making available from his own collection. All proceeds from the auction will go to the hospice at the Marienhospital in Witten. The patron of the charity auction is Dr Dirk Jakobs, vice president for organisational development at UW/H.

Anyone interested is cordially invited to come to the auction on 16 December at 5 pm in the event hall in the wooden building of Witten/Herdecke University at Alfred-Herrhausen-Straße 48 to support the hospice at Marienhospital - and perhaps take a piece of Witten's history home with them.
