People's Voice Survey

Project overview

The People's Voice Survey (PVS) is a population-based tool to assess the quality of the healthcare system from the users' perspective. This survey fills a gap in current health system performance measurement by capturing the views of health system users, focusing on dimensions such as user experience, trust and cost to users that are often neglected in traditional supply-side metrics.

The PVS was developed in collaboration with global healthcare experts and enables repeatable and comparable assessments in real time across countries. It has been implemented in 16 countries so far and has provided important insights into challenges in the healthcare system, such as inequalities in care and gaps in preventive care.

In Germany, the PVS is implemented by the Friede-Springer Endowed Professorship for Global Child Health in collaboration with the QUEST network and the WHO Regional Office for Europe. The aim is to assess healthcare utilisation, perceptions of system quality, inequalities and areas for targeted improvement, with a focus on adolescents and transnational comparisons.
