Choir of Witten/Herdecke University
Your voice for the UW/H
Musical diversity and community
Together with the orchestra, the University Choir forms the musical centrepiece of Witten/Herdecke University and brings together more than 200 singers from the entire university community. Students, teaching staff, employees, graduates and graduates of UW/H sing together. Since its foundation in 1991, the choir has been led by University Music Director Ingo Ernst Reihl.
In addition to secular and sacred a cappella literature, the university choir performs a large oratorio every year. At the end of each semester, two to three crowning final concerts take place on the university campus and in surrounding event and concert halls.
The weekly choir rehearsals are part of the artistic programme offered by the WittenLab. Studium Zukunftslabor Studium fundamentale.

How much music is in you?
Are you already a member of an A cappela ensemble or do you simply enjoy singing? Tell us in advance what experience you have so that we can get to know you and your voice better.
Motivated beginners are just as welcome as experienced singers. Voice training takes place in the joint rehearsals. It is therefore important that you attend rehearsals regularly. Please contact us before the first rehearsal and register. Don't worry, there is no public audition.

This is how you prepare for participation in the university choir:
The choir meets for rehearsals on Wednesdays from 19:15 to 22:00 in the event hall of the Holzgebäude on the UW/H campus (Alfred-Herrhausen-Straße 48, Witten). You will receive sheet music and song texts at the rehearsals. Please bring a pencil with you.
