Online lecture on ME/CFS and post-COVID
ME/CFS (myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome) is a serious neuroimmunological disease that affects millions of people worldwide. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, around 250,000 people were affected in Germany alone, including 40,000 children. The pandemic has probably doubled the number of people affected. Nevertheless, the disease is still insufficiently researched and many specialists have limited knowledge about this complex disease. There is also a lack of comprehensive medical care.
Dr Astrid Weber (general internist; head of the interdisciplinary Long COVID Outpatient Clinic in Koblenz and part of the Corona Competence Centre; member of the interdisciplinary ME/CFS Board of the German Society for ME/CFS e. V.) will speak on this topic. She will provide insights for anyone interested in learning more about the scientific background, symptoms and diagnosis, as well as the care of ME/CFS and post-COVID. There will be time for a Q&A session afterwards.
The event is organised by "BuNT - Barrierenabbau und Netzwerk für Teilhabe", a UW/H student initiative by and for students with disabilities, chronic physical and mental illnesses.
