Mindfulness in acute inpatient care
A multicentre randomised controlled trial
Project overview
Can mindfulness-based measures consisting of the 7Mind app with nursing-specific content, online workshops and a handbook for nursing staff and trainees influence the perceived stress and well-being of nursing staff and trainees in hospitals?
We investigated this question in this project in cooperation with 7Mind GmbH and several hospitals. Funded by the BARMER health insurance company, nursing staff and trainees at the affiliated hospitals were given the following opportunities:
Free 12-month access to the 7Mind app with exclusive courses for care professionals, a handbook and online workshops to introduce and deepen the content of mindfulness in everyday care and leisure time.

Research objective and method
As part of the research project, the participating nursing professionals and trainees were surveyed online at four points in time over a period of 10.5 months. The aim was to analyse the effectiveness of the intervention on perceived stress as well as happiness and life satisfaction, health-related outcomes and job satisfaction and experience.
Results
The results of this project provide an overview of the influence of a mindfulness-based intervention with analogue and digital elements on the perceived stress of nursing staff and trainees in acute inpatient care, the added value of these measures for participants and the conditions that promote or inhibit their use.
The publication of the study will follow.
