Innovative care for acutely ill residents in retirement homes (IVA)

Project overview

The IVA project aimed to avoid or reduce hospital admissions for residents of care homes for the elderly. The project was based on the assumption that hospitalisation poses a significant risk for elderly people, who often suffer from dementia processes in addition to their acute illness. Most hospitals are not adequately prepared to care for people with dementia. The IVA project was intended to help develop solution strategies and test them in the nursing homes involved in order to reduce or avoid hospital admissions.
