Influence of bureaucracy on the motivation of managers
Project overview
The one-year research project "Influence of bureaucracy on the motivation of managers - individual burdens and resources" examined the perspective of managers in the health, education and social services sectors on bureaucratic requirements in their appointments. How do managers perceive bureaucracy and how are they involved in these processes?
The project also investigated the effects that managers perceive bureaucracy to have on their working environment, taking a closer look at the impact on their own health and motivation, the effect on the workforce and the opportunities and obstacles that such requirements present for the organisation and the industry as a whole.
The focus was on the question of how managers deal with the demands, i.e. which coping strategies the target group uses and which resources are of particular importance to them. To this end, guided individual interviews were conducted and the data analysed.
The results serve to gain insights into the de-bureaucratisation, show further options for action in order to adequately meet the work requirements and uncover new areas of research.
