Big Data for Green Governance (IndiGreen)
How can big data contribute to a greener future?
Project overview
Laws, guidelines and regulations are crucial mechanisms for promoting more environmentally friendly behaviour. However, research offers little evidence on the impact of different regulations, as too few internationally comparable indicators are available. The research project "Big Data for Green Governance" (IndiGreen) uses natural language processing and machine learning to create a unique dataset containing information on environmental regulations from different countries. The researchers analyse how these regulations come about and what impact they have on the behaviour of the population. This research helps policymakers to develop effective measures to combat the climate crisis.
