Diversity-sensitive care for patients with endometriosis (DivEndo)

Participatory development and evaluation of a digital service for patients and practitioners to improve diagnosis and doctor-patient communication

Project overview

Endometriosis is one of the most common chronic diseases in women of reproductive age. Despite its high prevalence in Germany, endometriosis often remains unrecognized by healthcare professionals. The disease is not only associated with physical pain, but also with considerable psychosocial stress. Affected persons experience stigmatisation and discrimination in the healthcare system, which can result in delayed diagnosis and inadequate care. In addition, there are challenges in everyday life, which are exacerbated by a lack of social acceptance and understanding. The considerable emotional and social burdens associated with endometriosis underline the need for better patient-centred care.

In the DivEndo project, a grant proposal for a research project is being drawn up in a participatory manner with various stakeholders aiming to investigate how care for affected patients could change in order to ensure better prevention and treatment.
