Dispact study
Distal pancreatectomy - a randomised controlled trial comparing minimally invasive with open resection
Project overview
The success of an operation depends not only on the disease, but also on the damage caused by the surgical approach. Minimally invasive surgery reduces postoperative pain and leads to improved mobility, fewer pulmonary infections, faster recovery and a better quality of life.
The DISPACT 2 study investigates differences between open and minimally invasive distal pancreatic resection in terms of postoperative complications, further clinical and oncological efficacy, safety, quality of life and costs. Patient-relevant outcomes and oncological safety are also being investigated. In the case of the same number of postoperative complications and given oncological safety and improved quality of life, minimally invasive resection should be offered to patients as the first choice.
