Univ.-Prof. Dr.

Martina Roes

Professor

Faculty of Health (Department of Nursing Science)  |  Professor for Nursing Science and Health Care Research

Professorship of Nursing Science and Health Care Research

The professorship's research focuses on two main areas: Methods in care and health care research, in particular process evaluation; also the development and testing of implementation and dissemination models. The professorship also reflects on basic methodological assumptions in social research of and with people with dementia.

Special attention is also paid to the establishment of implementation and dissemination science as an independent discipline or as a component of nursing science.

Both focal points of the professorship are closely linked to the research of two working groups at the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases - DZNE in Witten: "Implementation Science" and "Person-Centered-Dementia-Care". She is also the spokesperson for the DZNE/Witten.

Research

  • B-Dem - The B-DEM project (counselling concepts and structures for people with dementia and their social environment with a special focus on counselling in accordance with Section 7a SGB XI) focuses on the topic of counselling in accordance with Section 7a SGB XI for the care of people with dementia, which people with dementia and their relatives in Germany can make use of.
  • BENi - The project aims to develop and sustainably implement practical recommendations for maintaining and promoting the mobility of residents in care facilities.
  • COVIDX3 - The aim of this international cooperation is to address disaster preparedness and disaster resilience in healthcare systems. The key philosophy of this project is that this learning will lead to appropriate, equitable and sustainable care for families with dementia during the pandemic and beyond.
  • DemFriendlyHospital - The aim of the project is to map the different ideas in a structured way and to develop criteria that characterise a dementia-friendly hospital.
  • DISTINCT - Researchers from the health care system and industry around the world are looking for solutions to effectively (and cost-efficiently) support people with dementia and their social environment with the help of technology. The DISTINCT project is funding a total of 15 doctoral students.
  • FTD-Bayern - In cooperation with the Hans-Weinberger-Akademie der AWO e. V. (Munich), the aim is to identify gaps in the care of people with FTD in Bavaria as well as obstacles that stand in the way of needs-based care.
  • INCLUDE & PLAN:D - The aim of the PLAN:D project is to research how built spaces (e.g. architecture, urban spaces and living spaces for people with dementia) can be designed and planned to be dementia-friendly. The INCLUDE project aims to investigate how people with dementia orientate themselves spatially in cities and, in particular, which spatial factors strengthen their self-confidence in finding their way independently.
  • PELI-D - The PELI-D is an instrument developed in the USA, translated into German and culturally adapted, which is used to record the preferences of older people and people in need of care.
  • PerDem - The Per-Dem project fundamentally asks how personhood is understood in person-centred care and research in the context of dementia.
  • TRANSFER-DEM - The project aims to identify factors that promote and inhibit the successful and sustainable implementation of dementia care concepts as well as actors who can significantly influence and help shape the implementation processes of these concepts.
