His clinical work focuses on affective disorders (depression, bipolar disorders), psychoses (in particular schizophrenia), alcohol dependency and mental illnesses in old age.
Resume
From 1991 to 1997, Marcel Sieberer studied medicine at the Justus Liebig University in Giessen and completed his practical year at Fletcher Allen Health Care, College of Medicine, University of Vermont, Burlington, USA.
After completing his neurological training at the Medical University of Lübeck and the Friederikenstift Hannover, he began working as an academic staff member and assistant physician at the Centre for Psychological Medicine at Hannover Medical School in 2003.
After his specialist examination in neurology(2004), he worked as an academic staff member at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Münster University Hospital in 2006/2007 and in the meantime worked as a senior physician at the Neurological Clinic of the Agnes-Karll Hospital in Laatzen.
After completing his specialisation in psychiatry and psychotherapy in 2009, he was a senior physician at the Clinic for Psychiatry, Social Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Medical University of Hanover until 2014 , where he also received his venia legendi in 2012.
He then took on the position of Medical Director and Chief Physician at AMEOS Klinikum Hildesheim from 2015 to 2017. During this time, he completed an MBA degree programme for working professionals at the University of Salzburg in Internat. Health Care Management.
From 2017 to 2019 , he was Medical Director of KRH Psychiatrie GmbH in the Hanover region.
Since 2020, Prof Sieberer has held the Chair of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Private Witten/Herdecke University and is clinically active as Chief Physician at the Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at St. Marien-Hospital in Hamm (Westphalia).

- Lectures and seminars in psychiatry and psychotherapy as part of the Psychiatry Clinic-POL Week, psychological findings as part of propaedeutics, conception of teaching in the Psychiatry and Psychotherapy Clinic Block, examinations in psychiatry and psychotherapy (written and oral), etc.

- Prof. Sieberer is a recognised expert in mental health, specialising in depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis and the risks and effects of cannabis and alcohol use on the psyche.
- With extensive experience in clinical practice and research, he also offers in-depth insights into the interactions between mental health, the work environment and social factors.
- He regularly analyses and comments on current developments in psychiatric care, including work and everyday life in psychiatric clinics, as well as professional and health policy aspects of psychiatry.
- Prof Sieberer also gives regular lectures on topics such as the implementation and evaluation of model projects (in accordance with §64b SGB V) in psychiatric care.
