Teaching

The Professorship of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy is involved in all sections of the Medicine model degree programme at Witten/Herdecke University. Information on the pre-clinical and clinical courses can be found in the course catalogue.

In addition to psychosomatic teaching, the professorship has also developed reflection courses designed to recognise professional dilemmas as learning opportunities and to use them to develop personal competence: the mentoring programme and clinical reflection training:

In the mentoring programme, students from the first semester onwards can work in groups of nine to ten people, together with a doctor and a student who is already in the clinical phase of their studies, to discuss personal, ethical, interactional or even very practical issues that arise during their studies and develop their own reflective ways of dealing with them.

During the practical year, clinical reflection training is offered to all PJ students at Herdecke Community Hospital. Every two weeks, students bring in professional dilemmas with themselves, patients and colleagues, develop possible solutions for the respective dilemma using a manualised procedure, but also learn a methodical approach to finding professional ways of dealing with complex situations for which there are no standard solutions.

Block internship placements, elective blocks for medical students, internships for psychology students, PJ tertials can be offered, but require advance notice when registering.
