Bochum symposium on medical studies with strong participation from UW/H
Experts exchanged new concepts and ideas for medical studies of the future.

What could the medical degree programme of the future look like? This question was the focus of this year's symposium on the further development of medical studies at the Centre for Medical Education (Ruhr University Bochum). Under the direction of Prof Thorsten Schäfer, around 100 experts from the DACH region exchanged views on the topic of "Constructive Alignment 3.0 - teaching-learning-examining from a single source" - in lectures, minute talks, workshops and discussions.
The focus was on a holistic view of medical education and the question of how to best coordinate teaching, learning processes and examinations. The innovations and ideas of the model degree programme in medicine at the UW/H served as good examples from practice in many places: UW/H members presented, for example, the importance of functioning communication structures (Robin Herbrechter), innovative new examination approaches (Benjamin Paul) and a web-based live feedback system in teaching (Michaela Stratmann). Annika Haupt also showed that the successful implementation of constructive alignment in the clinical training section of the model degree programme can serve as a model for medical education - even at state universities.
Together with the other medical faculties in Germany, the Federal Representation of Medical Students in Germany (BVMD) and representatives of the Medical Faculty Day (MFT), interesting concepts and new impulses for medical studies of the future were exchanged.
