AMARIS
Aeronautical and maritime innovation environment for interorganisational simulations
Project overview
Rescuing people from distress at sea is teamwork at sea and above. To ensure that the sea rescuers on the North Sea and Baltic Sea and the helicopter pilots in action are successful, they are constantly training to work together. The German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS), together with the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and the Chair of Strategic Organisation at the Reinhard Mohn Institute at Witten/Herdecke University, has developed a training and research environment that is unique in Europe so that they can also practice together virtually: sea rescuers can train the search and rescue of shipwrecked people with helicopter crews across organisations in their SAR simulator (SAR = Search and Rescue), even if they are in different locations.
The Chair of Strategic Organisation has scientifically investigated this type of cooperation between individuals and teams in the project and developed a training concept based on this so that the participants can practice their cooperation in the new environment in the best possible way.
