A Failed Transition of the Mind?

Since 2006, Joachim Zweynert has published a series of essays on the Russian post-Soviet reform debates. They deal with the question of whether the relative failure of transformation in Russia can also be attributed to the (economic) ideas prevailing there. In the 2018 monograph "When Ideas Fail. Economic Thought, the Failure of Transition and the Rise of Institutional Instability in Post-Soviet Russia", published in 2018, he summarised the results of his research and stated that the transition to a market economy and democracy in Russia had failed.
